CDTA & ADEA are thrilled to bring you the Diamond Dance Summit in 2024 

For three action-packed days, prominent Dance Educators from across Canada will be bringing their knowledge and passion for dance to Edmonton, Alberta. With classes in dance movement (Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre), mental health classes, seminars on business, pedagogy, music, and more, the Diamond Dance Summit (DDS) has something for everyone.

Classes will be offered to students ages 5-6 (Primary), ages 7-12 (Level 1), ages 12+ (Level 2), as well as to teachers, student-teachers, and teacher-assistants. A detailed schedule and faculty list will be emailed later this season.

Held at the internationally acclaimed Fantasyland Hotel, located in West Edmonton Mall, DDS will be fun for the whole family! Fantasyland Hotel is a one-stop destination where imaginative decor, culinary expertise and one-of-a-kind theme rooms join together to create a vividly unique guest experience. It has been listed as one of the top 10 most unique hotels in the world.

Friday July 19th will be the Diamond Gala (for teachers and vendors). An evening of mingling, networking, dancing, with a fashion show and a key-note speaker. More details will be coming soon!

Each attendee of DDS will receive a physical prize passport upon arrival. When you fill your passport with stamps from our partnering businesses within the West Edmonton Mall and our DDS vendors, you will be entered to win prizes!

 

Class Information

Primary classes for ages 5-6:

  • Students receive 2 classes/day on Friday and Saturday (mid-day)

  • Classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Musical Theatre

  • Early bird price (by May 31/24) = $60.00

  • Price after May 31/24 = $80.00

Student classes for ages 7+:

  • Students receive a minimum of 4 classes/day on Friday and Saturday, with morning class on Sunday

  • Classes in Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Musical Theatre

  • Early bird price (by May 31/24) = $199.00

  • Price after May 31/24 = $250.00

Teacher Assistant classes for ages 12+ and Student Teacher classes for ages 16+:

  • Will receive 3 classes on Sunday

  • Early bird price (by May 31/24) = $50.00 for Sunday

  • Price after May 31/24 = $ 70.00 for Sunday

Teacher classes:

  • Teachers receive 5 classes/day on Friday and Saturday, with morning class on Sunday

  • Movement classes in all genres, classes on business, mental health, pedagogy, music, and more

  • Early bird price (by May 31/24) for CDTA & ADEA members = $175.00

  • Early bird price (by May 31/24) for non-members = $225.00

  • Price after May 31/24 for CDTA & ADEA members = $225.00

Teacher Assistant Training Sessions (3-hours of training on Sunday)

  • Geared for the young eager dancers who are beginning to assistant teachers in class - ages 12+

  • A 3-hour session specifically designed to teach young dancers, assisting teachers in the classroom, basic skills on assisting students and the teacher in a dance class.

  • Topics of discussion will cover roles and responsibilities, assistant etiquette, developing rapport, how to help in classroom management, how to help in correction, developing a cohesive work relationship with your mentor - being the best assistant you can be.

Student Teacher Training Sessions (3-hours of training on Sunday)

  • Geared for the new beginner teacher ages 16-19 years

  • Exclusive sessions designed to educate and assist a beginning teacher.

  • Topics in sessions to be included: Lesson Planning, Classroom Management Skills, Tips And Tricks To Creating a Balanced Class, Support your Studio Owner by Being the Best Teacher You Can Be, Teaching Etiquette, Team Building, Choosing Age-Appropriate Music and Choreography and Pre-School success tips- understanding the development of preschoolers and more.

  • Networking and practical sessions to practice teaching with peers. Feedback provided.

  • Registrants will have exclusive access to convention sessions designed just for STUDENT TEACHERS
