Code of Ethics

All members owe a duty of loyalty to the Association and to the individual of the Association. Members should strive to promote friendly relations and good fellowship among the members.

All members shall strive to maintain a professional standard of conduct which is above reproach at all times. Malicious slander is not professional conduct. Members should ensure that no communication, action, or omission on his/her part is detrimental to the interests of other members.

Any published material by a teacher or studio should benefit the standing of the profession and respect the reputation of their colleagues. A teacher may seek publicity for his or her services, achievements and school in any way consistent with the dignity of the profession. Teachers and studios should not make comparisons to the services of others. Promotional material should contain any factual statement, the truth of which a teacher is able to justify.

No member shall solicit students of another member. Solicitation is the encouragement of a child to leave their present teacher/studio by a person with knowledge that the student is at that time registered at another studio. This includes pamphlets, phone calls or meetings by teachers or parents.

Members should consider other members when opening a new studio. Research into population, schools, children and other studios in the area should be considered.

Members shall hold all Association information in confidence. This includes financial and ethical issues discussed at meetings or contained in minutes.
